Decoding Data, Driving Decisions

A career of transforming complex data into actionable insights and meaningful outcomes.

My career began in 2006 at Lenovo Brazil. At that time, data started to be part of my life.

I worked as a Large Enterprise Customer Representative, managing supplies for large USA companies. It was almost 3 years working there, time enough to make a good impact in the company. I have implemented some SAP automation with scripts and lectured teams about how they could perform the work better.

Later, in 2010, I joined IBM Brazil, where I worked in different roles analyzing financial data, developing KPI reports, and streamlining forecasting processes. In 2011, I led a team managing billing operations and another one for process improvements via Excel/ VBA automation. I introduced many automation processes that reduced errors by 99% and slashed manual workloads. I worked for 10 years at IBM. These experiences taught me the value of precision and efficiency in creating data-driven solutions that truly matter.

Fast-forward to my last role at Food Lion in North Carolina (2020), where I worked as a data scientist on the Corporate Strategy team. Here, I dive deep into big data using PySpark, SQL, and machine learning to tackle challenges like optimizing store traffic predictions (with under 2% error) and improving e-commerce store selection accuracy by 20%. I’ve also developed algorithms that reduced labor costs by 33% and created dashboards that empower leadership to make informed decisions.

Beyond the workplace, I’m passionate about sharing knowledge. I’m the author of the books Data Wrangling with R (Packt Publishing) and Your AI Partner (Self-Published).

Furthermore, I currently teach a PySpark course and a Data Science Projects course on Udemy. My Medium blog attracts over 20k views each month, where I break down complex topics into digestible insights for a global audience.

Education has always been a cornerstone of my career. I hold an MBA in Data Science and Analytics (USP, GPA 98%) and certifications from MIT and Data Science Academy. This foundation has helped me stay at the forefront of evolving data technologies while staying grounded in real-world applications.

When I’m not coding or analyzing data, you can find me writing, exploring new tools, or collaborating with other data enthusiasts. I love finding creative ways to solve problems, and I’m always ready for the next data challenge!

Cheers!
